Gun Control: The Soft Bigotry Of Low Expectations

M2RB:  Elvis Presley

As a crowd gathers 'round an angry young man
face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto

As her young man dies,
on a cold and gray Chicago mornin',
another little baby child is born
In the ghetto

“You cannot police poverty. You cannot police broken dreams, you cannot police aspirations. This cannot be dealt with on just a citywide level. We have drugs and guns coming in, and jobs going out. In most of the areas where these shootings are taking place, the unemployment rate is between 45% and 55%.”

- Jesse Jackson

So, everyone else has to give up their guns?

Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations.

The rest of Illinois, the surrounding states, and, indeed, other big cities like Houston are awash in guns, but they don’t have the homicide rate.

We can look at cities in the US where CCW is allowed with those where guns have been banned. In 2011, Houston — both the city and the state of Texas have CCW laws — had the lowest crime rate in 50 years. According to FBI crimes statistics, the number of murders in Houston went from 269 in 2010 to 198 in 2011 — a 22% decrease. By contrast, Chicago, which had a gun ban, had 440 murders in 2010.

Houston’s murder rate in 2011 was 3.24 per 100,000 residents while Chicago’s was 16.33 per 100,000 residents.

It’s weird how those neighbouring states, with their less stringent gun laws, don’t have crime rates like Chicago, isn’t it? I mean, according to gun-grabbers like yourself, stricter gun control laws reduces crime. Thus, Chicago should have a very low crime rate and the states of Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Iowa should have very high crime rates; yet, it is the EXACT opposite.

Here’s an idea: Maybe, it is the CULTURE OF CHICAGO where the failed Blue Model has been in place for DECADES. Perhaps, it might have something to do with the decimation of the black family since the “War on Poverty” started. And, it just might be the perverse societal thinking that welfare is good and there is no value in work.

Lil Jojo was murdered in September, 2012, due to gang violence between his Gangster’s Disciples and Chief Keef’s Black Disciples.

A Tale of Two Liberal Wars…

The Vietnam War – 1965-1973

KIAs: 58,175

Casualties: 153,303

Cost: $133 billion

Vietnam War Memorial: 246.9 feet by 10.1 feet

War on Poverty – 1965 -

KIA: untold millions

Casualties: untold millions

Cost: More than $18.9 trillion

War on Poverty Memorial: Insufficient funds, building materials, and space

The “War on Poverty” is the only war that I can think of where Progressives demand ESCALATION in the face of mountains of evidence demonstrating abject defeat.

Jesse, I think he was talking about you:

"There is (a) class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs. ... There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

- Booker T Washington, 1911

 *********************************************

"The street violence in cities like mine, Chicago.  We have to stop the guns coming in from other areas.  If you are a black male. If you are a black male your life is in constant danger, and thats just a fact. You whites have very little idea what that feels like. Nobody wants to shoot you."

- Allidunce, 5 February 2013

Chicago's problem is GANGS, NOT GUNS; yet, your mayor's sole approach, other than calling for gun control elsewhere, has been to send Calypso Louie's foot soldiers out to patrol the streets. Yes, let's use the followers of the man who said this about the death of Malcolm X:

"The die is set, and Malcolm shall not escape, especially after such evil, foolish talk about his benefactor, Elijah Muhammad. Such a man as Malcolm is worthy of death."

- Louis Farrakhan, Muhammad Speaks, the Nation of Islam newspaper, 4 December 1964

"I was very angry with Malcolm for what Malcolm had done. I was hurt by his assassination. . . But today, looking back, Malcolm would be so much more valuable to us alive."

- Louis Farrakhan, ABC-TV's "20/20," 22 April 1994

"Yes, it is true that black men (all Nation of Islam members) pulled the trigger. We cannot deny any responsibility in this. Where we are responsible, where our hands are a part of this, we beg God's mercy and forgiveness."

- Louis Farrakhan, 60 Minutes, 11 February 2009

"I may have been complicit in words that I spoke leading up to February 21 [1965]. I acknowledge that and regret that any word that I have said caused the loss of life of a human being."

- Louis Farrakhan, 60 Minutes, 11 February 2009

Farrakhan, a man that even the Southern Poverty Law Centre has called an anti-semitic, racist, and black supremacist, has denied ordering the assassination, but has admitted to having "helped create the atmosphere" that led to it.  So, let's ask an INCITER OF MURDER to send his foot soldiers to do the job of the police and families.

Just brilliant!

In The Ghetto - Elvis Presley

As the snow flies
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin'
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
And his mama cries
'Cause if there's one thing that she don't need
It's another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto

People, don't you understand
The child needs a helping hand
Or he'll grow to be an angry young man some day
Take a look at you and me,
Are we too blind to see,
Do we simply turn our heads
And look the other way

Well the world turns
And a hungry little boy with a runny nose
Plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto

And his hunger burns
So he starts to roam the streets at night
And he learns how to steal
And he learns how to fight
In the ghetto

Then one night in desperation
A young man breaks away
He buys a gun, steals a car,
Tries to run, but he don't get far
And his mama cries

As a crowd gathers 'round an angry young man
Face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto

As her young man dies,
On a cold and gray Chicago mornin',
Another little baby child is born
In the ghetto
