Sorry, Carville, But Obama's Credibility Crisis Is One Of His Own Making

Matt Wuerker

'You know, what I would say and maybe a little bit of a different view here. I think what really is freaking people out is the incompetence of the Bush administration in Iraq...Of course, the Iraq thing is why people have so much trepidation about going into Syria. They said the last time we went over there, look what happened. I really think this has something to do with it.'

- James Carville, The O'Reilly Factor, 4 September 2013

Obama’s own incompetence and lies don’t count, right James, nor the fact that, from at least the 1970s, the US has intervened and/or ‘liberated’ millions of Muslims. In return, we have not only earned their ungratefulness, but outright hatred and disdain.  Anyhoo, back to 'credibility' and President Obama - three words that should never be uttered in the same breath...

Old & Busted ‘Smart Power’:

‘We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that's a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change MY calculus. That would change MY equation.

- President Barack Obama, 20 August 2012

We go on to reaffirm that the President has set a clear red line as it relates to the United States that the use of chemical weapons or the transfer of chemical weapons to terrorist groups is a red line that is not acceptable to us, nor should it be to the international community. It’s precisely because we take this red line so seriously that we believe there is an obligation to fully investigate any and all evidence of chemical weapons use within Syria.’

- ‘White House Official,’ 25 April 2013

The President’s use of the term red line was deliberate and was based on U.S. policy. The world knew that the Syrian government possessed chemical weapons, and we had a concern that as the regime was increasingly beleaguered, it might use chemical weapons against the Syrian people in desperation. The message that the President delivered that day was the same message that he was delivering in private. It was one that he and others in the administration have reinforced on multiple occasions ever since.’

- White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, 6 May 2013

New, ‘Competent’ Hotness:

‘I didn’t set a red line. The world set a red line.’

- President Barack Obama, 4 September 2013

And, the world, collectively, is left scratching its head in appalled, stunned disbelief at President Obama and his outright lies.

'Well, it looks like we're getting ready to teach Syria a lesson. And President Obama is now saying that he never used the term "red line." Remember when he was talking about if we find out that they used chemical weapons in Syria that that would be crossing a red line, and if they crossed that red line, by God, we had to go in there and get them? If they crossed the red line, that would be a violation of the red line. He drew a red line. Had a red line everywhere. Well now the president is saying he never used the term "red line." He's saying that the world used the term “red line.” So, it's taken him five years, but finally the guy has learned how to bullshit.'

- David Letterman, The Late Show, 4 September 2013

Glad to see you coming around, Dave, but Obama has been bullshitting his entire life.
